General Vijay Kumar
Singh is a Distinguished Fellow of New Westminster College. He has a
distinguished record of ethical leadership and is the Minister of State for
External Affairs and concurrently as a Member of Parliament of India
representing Ghaziabad. He was appointed as Minister of State for
External Affairs on 26 May 2014 by the Prime Minister of India.
General Singh served
in the Indian Army from 1970 to 2012. He retired in 2012 as a four-star
General, having served as the 24th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian
Army from 31 March 2010 to 31 May 2012. Most of his military career was
spent in special forces roles, including service in the Indo-Pakistani War of
1971. He was the first commando to be promoted to the rank of General. His
